Residential Registration

All residents living in Austria are required by law to register with the respective authorized office after arrival in Austria.

 

For this registration the following deadlines apply:

·         Registration: within 3 days of moving in

·         Cancellation of your registration: between 3 days before and 3 days after moving out

·         Change of your name or nationality: within one month

 

The respective office for registration in the city of Salzburg is the registration service, which is called “Meldeservice”, of the Magistrate Salzburg (administrative organ of the city of Salzburg):

If you have the opportunity to stay in an OeAD accomodation, you will receive the registration form from the OeAD Housing Office, otherwise you will get it from the respective registration office or from the internet: www.stadt-salzburg.at/pdf/meldezettel.pdf  . The registration form has to be signed both by your landlord/landlady and by yourself.

After submission of your passport and your registration form you will receive a confirmation of registration from the Central Registration Register (Zentrales Melderegister (ZMR)) from the Magistrat Salzburg/ Meldeservice.

When cancelling your registration fill in the box “Abmeldung” on the registration form and submit it together with your passport to the Magistrat Salzburg/ Meldeservice.

In case of changes submit your passport and your old and new registration form at the Magistrat Salzburg/ Meldeservice.
